Lucky me
Enrico reported this morning that liferea dies on Sam’s entry about file parsing vulnerabilities (talk about irony). So, what does silly me do almost right after? Well, I went and read Planet Debian on liferea, of course. And, behold, liferea 1.2 doesn’t crash! I really must finally get my experimental packages ready and uploaded.
Update (5 seconds later): Nope, I was wrong. It does crash.

Liferea 1.1.7 doesn’t crash for me. It might depend on your rendering engine? Is it maybe gtkhtml crashing?

The crashes do happen randomly when using GtkHTML2 for rendering and from most user reports I got until now they seem not to be happening with Gecko.
The current situation looks like this:
Liferea with GtkHTML2 rendering on 32bit HW - crashes rarely
Liferea with GtkHTML2 rendering on 64bit HW - crashes almost certainly
Liferea with Gecko rendering on 32bit HW - works reliable
Liferea with Gecko rendering on 64bit HW - crashes rarely
So you see what platform I’m developing on
BTW due to the many crash report I think I’ll remove the GtkHTML2 rendering and ask the maintainers to do the same.
